Okay. No more musing. No more researching (It's not really helping.). No more procrastinating. Today I'm starting the detailed synopsis for book two of THE CHAMELEON CHRONICLES. Seriously. Really.

Have I mentioned how much I detest writing a synopsis? To me it's the equivalent of pulling a novel out of my... Well, you know. It's always painful. I hate it. Hate. It. Regardless, I'm going to dive in. Today. Honest. No, really.

I'm in the minority here (so please don't *hate* me) but I LOVE writing my synopsis. And I like writing it FIRST.

Are you done gasping (or screaming at me)?

It gets my brain fully working on my story. Let's me write it in short before I dive into the biggie. And it gives me direction (even if it is big picture). Because I am like you Beth--no outline/plotting before hand--and a synopsis can be a great tool.

Now writing a synopsis after a completed manuscript- Bleh! That is harder. At least for me. But then again, we've already established that I am a little strange. ;-)

What would be worse is if you had to actually write the synopsis AND clean the toilet in the same day! :-)

You'll do it, B! I can hear your wheels grinding and you'll need mega cups of coffe, but you'll do it!

I don't mind writing a synopsis actually. My phobia is blurbs. I cannot write a blurb. I really admire a catchy blurb.

Jen, you could eat off of my kitchen floor. Just kidding. I resisted cleaning (sadly, not all that hard) and hunkered down on the synopsis. I now have a whopping one and a half pages of drek. And it took me all day to write that. But hey, it's a start and at least I can work with drek. LOL

You can do it Beth--I know you can! BTW I heard Nora Roberts say ata conference she used to write the books first, then the synopsis; after a few years, she told her editors that and they told her to "just write the book."

I don't think I'm wired properly to write those suckers. I have the WORST time -- matter of fact, I don't think I've written one I'm happy with yet. I've taken workshops, absorbed everything I could from the 'net, and I still have trouble.
